Shawn Marion came to UNLV via Vincennes Junior College in the summer of 1998. He would go on to lead the Runnin' Rebels to a WAC Mountain division championship while averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds a game. He was named to the All WAC First Team and All Defensive Team before being drafted as the 9th overall pick in the '99 NBA Draft.

UNLV finished the season 16-13 accepting a bid to play in the NIT.
